Urban Roots Workshop with Amy Secada
of the Kinetic Junglist Movement. Amy is founder of KJM and curator of the legendary “Urban Roots Project” an annual afro-urban dance festival dedicated to educate the urban dance community about the importance of folkloric dance and ritual preservation.

“Urban Roots” is an experimental urban dance workshop that focuses on implementing influences from Capoeira and African dance into a primal urban flow. Learn to ground your personal freestyle and explore floor work with ease and grace through a combination of Capoeira, Break Dance and Contemporary floor work techniques. The commonalities of current African street styles and American urban dance will be examined and utilized to awaken your ancestral movement.
