Pre-Ballet w/ Mercedes
For children ages 3 – 5, introduces the child to music and dance, coordination, and spatial/motor skills. Gentle guidance helps the beginner develop rhythm, cooperation, playful creative dance, and basic ballet skills. The classes offer an atmosphere of fun within discipline so the children can gain a sense of accomplishment as well as exploring their love of dance and music.
Ballet 1 w/ Mercedes Johnson
For Ages 6 & up. This class is suitable for beginners and will cover the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. The importance of strength, flexibility, rhythm, musicality, and memorization will be stressed. Basics of performing will be introduced. It is recommended that students have taken Pre Ballet but it is not required.
Contemporary 1 , 2, 0r ¾ w/ Molly (by level)
This contemporary class will offer a warm up that is based on sinking into the body, becoming aware of our bodies structure and posture, and working from the inside out, which will allow for movement that comes from not just the superficial body but from a deeper place. There will be technique in the center, some across the floor and the class will end with choreography that will really challenge the dancer to reach their potential of their full range of motion, power and conviction in their dancing.
Jazz 1 w/ Emily Ages 5+
We will continue to cover the basics of Jazz technique. Step touch’s, step kicks, 3 step turns, boogies, and pivots are just some of the curriculum steps. Simple turns and battement kicks will be added as well as across the floor combos. Choreography will include facial theatrics and some more intricate stage formations. Timing, rhythm and the 8 count will be focused on. Jazz is a fun, energetic and influential style to add to any dancers repertoire!
Basic Vocab: Isolations, Heel toe, Ball change/ Kick Ball change, Pivot Step, Jazz Passe, Low leg extensions, Arm extensions, Jazz Hands, Square Step (Box Step), Releve, Jazz Walks, Chasse, Skips, Intro to chene turns, Leaps, and more basic steps.
Jazz 2 w/ Emily Ages 7+
Will continue to add on the advanced foundations of Jazz. Stretching, pirouettes, chaines turns, leaps and high kicks will be incorporated. More combinations and drills across the floor will help students utilize traveling, space awareness and choreography memorization. Jazz 2 will continue to build upon the basics, making sure students can perform variations of steps. Jazz is a fun, energetic and influential style to add to any dancers repertoire!
Modern 1 w/ Micha Scott 5 + yrs
For young growing minds and bodies, this class puts a fun and imaginative twist on modern technique. Students’ alignment and balance improve as the class focuses on stretching, progressions across the floor, musicality, and creative expression though movement. So fun!
Modern 2 w/ Micha Scott 7 + yrs

Modern 2/3 w/ Micha Scott 8+ yrs
For students with some dance experience. Students’ alignment and balance improves as the class focuses on development of technique through modern fundamentals; stretching, progressions across the floor, and choreography.Musicality is integrated through a diverse selection of genres.
Modern ¾ w/ Micha Scott 10+ yrs
For students who have taken at least 2 semesters of Modern 2A or equivalent dance experience. Students’ alignment and balance improves as the class focuses on development of technique through modern fundamentals; stretching, progressions across the floor, poly rhythmic understanding in the body and choreography.Musicality is integrated through a diverse selection of genres.
Beginning Boys Hip Hop w/ Harold Mccord
For ages 6 & up. Boys learn directly the art of Hip Hop skills and techniques. Progressions across the floor develop coordination and upper body strength needed to gain breaking and Hip Hop fundamentals. Boys master personal expression in a fun, challenging, and high energy environment.
Girls Hip Hop
Welcome ladies to a world of self expression. You now have an opinion. Unleash it by expressing all that you are in the cypher. We will be developing strong sharp movements mixed with technique and flow from the hip hop culture. In this class we will be focusing on your growth as an artiest with interactive choreography mixed with free style, battle tactics simple raps, beat boxing.
Girls Hip Hop 2
These classes teach the fundamentals of hip hop movement. They are upbeat and high energy classes. Stretching, isolations, rhythms, musicality, upper body strength and funky footwork will all be incorporated. Students will learn to memorize choreography by working on a combination each class. Must have 2 full semesters of Hip Hop 1..
Tap 2 w/ Emily
Tap 2 at TWDCC transitions the tappers from a basic tap knowledge into an intermediate level. Dancers will be challenged in terms of tempo, musicality, and progression to more difficult combinations. Vocab ex: shuffle combos, heel rolls, flaps, #’s, stationary flaps, 77337, 3 step turns, pivot turn with flaps.
Tap 2/3 w/ Emily
Tap 2/3 at TWDCC is designed for tappers with a solid foundation of Tap vocabulary and technique. Dancers are now prepared to sustain an intermediate level. Dancers will be challenged in terms of tempo, musicality, and progression to more difficult combinations. Vocab ex: shuffle combos, heel rolls, flaps, #’s, stationary flaps, 77337, 3 step turns, pivot turn with flaps.
Tap ¾ w/ Emily
With intermediate and seasoned tappers alike, this class is fast paced and both technically and creatively challenging. Tappers advance into a true advanced-intermediate class where sloppy feet just won’t’ slide. Vocab ex: wing preps to wings, toe pops, buffalos, trains, paddle and roll, heel drops, riff preps to riffs.
Girls Hip-Hop 1
Girls Hip-Hop 1 at TWDCC is a fun and funky class for anyone! Dancers will go over basic hip-hop movements, isolations, and phrases. Although there is plenty of demonstration and explanation, the dancers are always moving! Amethyst’s hip hop emphasizes the pop or performance style. Vocab ex: step touch, hip bump, slides, shifts, swoops, pops, poses, pivots.
Jazz 3 w/ Emily 11+ years
Jazz 3 at TWDCC will continue to progress in technique, performance skills, and creative integration. A true advanced-intermediate class, Jazz 3 dancers will work on strength, flexibility, endurance, a strong stage presence, and peer evaluations. Jazz improvisation will be encouraged in class to further their creative outlet. Vocab ex: jazz piruettes, jazz leaps, pas de bourre, jazz walks, chaines, chasse, sugar walks, stag leaps, floor work.
